Open Collaborative Design & Building Session
We will be installing the thin wood from up-cycled veggie boxes into our organic roof construction. Very basic stuff that just involves putting small nails in thin wood. Bring snack and drinks to share.

There are several other interesting and simple up-cycling projects to help out with too…

10:30 meet and greet
11:30 start jamming out project work

Over the next few months we will continue to build the Baumhaus community both socially and professionally by continuing our practice of collaboratively building our collective portfolio of sustainable solutions together. This includes the Baumhaus space itself, additional event content and the services people in our network offer.

Let us know who you are, how you can imagine collaborating, when you might have time to collaborate, what talents, skills and curiosities you are passionate about sharing and learning. Feel free to let us know what motivates you and what kind of practical things you would like to accomplish.

Send messages to: info@baumhausberlin.de. We will respond to all messages. We will definitely be engaged in plenty of the following activities over the next months:

• graphic design
• product / furniture design
• interior / set design
• general building with wood
• general helping hands stuff
• decorative finishing
• sewing

Flow – a special musical meditation series
Jul 25 @ 19:00 – 22:00
Flow - a special musical meditation series @ Das Baumhaus Berlin | Berlin | Berlin | Germany
Flow :: Special I.G.O. Sessions (last Wednesday of each month)

Flow is a state of being… an experience when you allow yourself to be 100% fully engaged in the present moment in a feedback loop between clarity and satisfaction. It is an undeniable sensation where things seem to be more effortless, pleasurable, in sync, and you can easily sense a connection with something greater than yourself; this is what we will create…:

• a connected and mindful meditation where it is possible to blissfully surf the cutting edge of the present moment together…

• a game where it’s possible to feel excited and calm in the same moment, and everyone can win as much as they like…

Scott Bolden, co-founder of Das Baumhaus Berlin will share some very easy, practical and effective methods developed during the last 3 years of facilitating the “Improvisational Groove Orchestra” (I.G.O.) improv vocal jam sessions. Within 20 minutes participants learn to use the common sound space to create resonance in the form of improvisational music where it is quite common to experience some real flow moments…

It is very easy to participate, no musical talent or training is required so anyone is welcome to join. Most of the session is done with eyes closed to avoid visual distractions and keep focus on the co-created sound space. During these sessions we will also have special guest instrumental musicians, poets, writers and beat-boxers etc… If you would like to be a special guest, please send us a message.

Important – if you have never done this in the Baumhaus before and can not make it in time for the intro and warm up, then please wait until the next session to join. It is very important to understand the methodology and warm up in the group before joining in!

Program:

19:00 – Doors open, meet and greet

19:45 – Introduction, warm up & first jams (planting seeds)

20:30 – Break

20:45 – Second round of jams (human sequencer game + other fun stuff)

21:30 – Closing & feedback

+ TBD – poets, singers, instrumentalists etc. send mail to info@baumhausberlin.de to reserve a guest spot.

IGO – Improvisational Groove Orchestra

We meet EVERY Thursday to listen, respond, observe and curiously play with the sounds our voices create together. Our objective is to tune into the common feeling we are developing in the present moment.

Most of what we do is with our eyes closed. This allows everyone to be very focused on only the sound space without any other distractions.

At each session we usually have more beginners rather than experienced singers; all levels and voice types are welcome. Scott will explain a few basic and intuitively understandable concepts to make it super easy to dive in and be jamming out within the first 15 minutes!
It is a learning process in progress, each time balancing ourselves in volume and expression to merge into the group sound space, allowing everyone to hear and be heard, naturally developing our own musical styles.

The last times we explored further into the human sequencer game – a system where one person acts as a conductor, splitting the group into small parts, giving each small group unique impulses that than develop into one composition.

Feel most welcome to come and join us! (please be on time, there are important things to explain before beginning)

** pay as you feel, 3 – 5€ after the session

Knowledge Transfer, Session 1 – The Sewing Machine
Jul 31 @ 18:00 – 22:00
Knowledge Transfer, Session 1 - The Sewing Machine
It is not about how much knowledge we have but how we share that knowledge and what we do with that knowledge…

During this first session, the lovely and talented Perrine will show us everything she knows about our old school, high quality, industrial strength sewing machine.

Over the past months we have been using our sewing machine to develop our hanging vertical garden prototype. Sewing thick fleece pockets together with chicken wire was the first challenge for our machine.

Now, we would like to use the machine for sewing up-cycled pillow covers, curtains, fabric bags and repairing old clothes. So if you are interested in how to use our sewing machine or even help document the knowledge transfer so others can learn too then come on by Tuesday evening.

18:00 Doors Open – meet and greet

19:00 Let the transfer begin!
• operating the sewing machine
• making up-cycled chairs from Tetra-paks
+ whatever other offerings come up

20:30 Quick Pitches – let people know what
• resources and help you have to offer or
• what you need help with
• announcements for interesting opportunities and happenings

The Baumhaus is a lab for sustainable development where people can get actively involved in projects and events that make the world a better place through practical actions. Donations are always welcome…

Most of what we do is with our eyes closed. This allows everyone to be very focused on only the sound space without any other distractions. We usually are more beginners than experienced singers, and that’s absolutely fine. It is a learning process in progress, each time balancing ourselves in volume and expression to merge into the group sound space, allowing everyone to hear and be heard, naturally developing our own musical styles.

All levels and voice types are welcome! Just make sure to be on time: Scott will explain a few basic and intuitively understandable concepts to make it super easy to dive in for everyone.

”Knit-in” + Info: The Red Line for Hambacher Forest
Sep 24 @ 19:00 – 22:00
The forest of Hambach needs protection as the German coal company RWE wants to cut it down this fall, sacrificing a unique forest for dirty coal mining. It’s time for us in Berlin to support the actions of the forest protectors:

We knit the Red Line.

At the mass action “Ende Gelände!” (Here and no further!) end of october, people will draw a red line between the open cast coal mining of Hambach and the thousands of years old forest.

Monday evening, September 24th at 7pm we will meet for a knit-in, knitting red scarfs for people, who will travel from Berlin to the Rhineland to form the red line in front of the forest.

You don’t need to know how to knit – everyone is warmly invited!
“Ende Gelände!” activists will be there to give updates about the current situation in the forest, and share info about planned actions.

If you have, please bring your own knitting needles. We’ll have plenty of red wool…

Looking forward to meeting you!

Flow – a special musical meditation series
Sep 26 @ 19:00 – 22:00

Here are some recording samples from past sessions…

15:00 – 21:00 Guerilla Screen Printing in the back room with Ben from Seedbomb City: You can bring your own clothes, bags or any other printable surfaces to have our regular t-shirt design or another printed on your stuff for a donation. We will also have several up-cycled pre-printed items and a few new things too to choose from.

16:00 – 16:30 Emergent Berlin Kick-off: We’ll present this year’s theme, “Immersive Realities” for Emergent Berlin Fest 2018 & launch the call for participation. Since 2013, our annual gathering brings together emerging and developing initiatives in Berlin working for sustainability. The idea is to create synergies between people from diverse backgrounds who are interested in getting involved with, collaborating with and supporting these initiatives in an informal and inspiring atmosphere.
This year, Emergent Berlin will take place in the Baumhaus space from November 5th – 17th. It’s co-created by people participating, and we’re excited to start the process now, present you the framework and start weaving in your ideas and projects… Check out the festival from the last years: http://www.emergentberlinfest.de/index.php/archiv-2013-2015/

///  SALON «Wirkungsvoll konsumieren im Alltag»
Freitag, 5.

19 Uhr «Hat mein eigenes Handeln überhaupt Wirkung?!»

20 Uhr Austausch / Diskussion / Ausklang

/// WORKSHOP-NACHMITTAG «Persönliche Aktionsplanung [&] alternative Mobilität»
Samstag, 6.

15 Uhr «Und was jetzt?!»

/// GÄSTE

*Gastexpertin Jessica Böhme: Indem sie sich aufgemacht hat ihren eigenen, komsumgesteuerten Lebensstil in eine nachhaltigere Lebensweise zu transformieren, wurde Jessica zur Expertin in diesem Bereich – mit einer sehr persönlichen und praktischen Perspektive, in Verbindung mit wissenschaftlicher Forschung.
