I.G.O. Thursday Meditative Vocal Jam Sessions @ Baumhaus

We meet every Thursday to listen, respond, observe and curiously play with the sounds our voices create together. Our objective is to tune into the common feeling we are developing in the present moment.

Most of what we do is with our eyes closed. This allows everyone to be very focused on only the sound space without any other distractions. We usually are more beginners than experienced singers, and that’s absolutely fine. It is a learning process in progress, each time balancing ourselves in volume and expression to merge into the group sound space, allowing everyone to hear and be heard, naturally developing our own musical styles.

All levels and voice types are welcome! Just make sure to be on time: Scott will explain a few basic and intuitively understandable concepts to make it super easy to dive in for everyone.

ABOUT

Intuitive painting is a creative process that combines intuition, playful exploration and freedom of expression. I invite everyone to engage in art-making free from:
Perfectionism – by silencing our inner critic
Comparison – by accepting the uniqueness of each human being
Constant need for external approval – by looking inward to find self-worth

This class is not about creating a perfect painting. It is about the process of exploring the unknown, accepting imperfections and letting go of fear and shame. True creativity is born when we face the blank canvas without any expectations, or specific goals and allow the painting to unfold organically.

Participants have the chance to work on any subject, emotion or thought they wish to explore. However, a general theme is always provided. A short guided meditation opens the practice and helps to relax the mind and the body.

• No registration needed, max 25 spaces available
• contact – info@baumhausberlin.de

Flow is a state of being… an experience when you allow yourself to be 100% fully engaged in the present moment in a feedback loop between clarity and satisfaction. It is an undeniable sensation where things seem to be more effortless, pleasurable, in sync, and you can easily sense a connection with something greater than yourself; this is what we will create…:

• a connected and mindful meditation where it is possible to blissfully surf the cutting edge of the present moment together…

• a game where it’s possible to feel excited and calm in the same moment, and everyone can win as much as they like…

Scott Bolden, co-founder of Das Baumhaus Berlin will share some very easy, practical and effective methods developed over the past 5 years of facilitating the “Improvisational Groove Orchestra” (I.G.O.) improv vocal jam sessions. Within 20 minutes participants learn to use the common sound space to create resonance in the form of improvisational music where it is quite common to experience some real flow moments…

It is very easy to participate, no musical talent or training is required so anyone is welcome to join. Most of the session is done with eyes closed to avoid visual distractions and keep focus on the co-created sound space. During these sessions we will also have special guest instrumental musicians, poets, writers and beat-boxers etc… If you would like to be a special guest, please send us a message.

Important – if you have never done this in the Baumhaus before and can not make it in time for the intro and warm up, then please wait until the next session to join. It is very important to understand the methodology and warm up in the group before joining in!

Program:

18:00 – Doors open, meet and greet

20:00 – All you can eat Bio/Vegan Buffet and community networking in our “Open Greeting Zone” until 23:00

Designing New Spaces for Sustainability in Berlin

Using Edward de Bono’s “Six-Thinking-Hats” technique, we will set out to explore the following question: “Which places and spaces can we design in Berlin to ignite a more embodied experience of sustainability in people’s everyday lives?” No previous knowledge of the subject matter is required. By the end of this 90-minute session, the group will have collected a pool of ideas that attendees are welcome to take home and transform into actionable initiatives. The workshop will be held primarily in English to accommodate an international audience. Participants may also ask questions/give input in German, which the workshop facilitator will be happy to translate for the group.

Please confirm participation with a short email to info@baumhausberlin.de with the subject: New Spaces Workshop

Talk & Workshop – Exploring The Inner Commons
a deep dive into personal sustainability

by Scott Bolden, Co-founder of Baumhaus Berlin

Doors Open @ 13:00
Workshop from 14:00 – 17:00

If you really want to make the world a better place then a great place is to start with yourself because no matter where you go or what you do, you can not escape yourself… Besides, doesn’t it make sense that a truly sustainable society would be composed of more balanced individuals?

The Inner Commons is an intuitively understandable, flexible and contextual framework developed by Scott Bolden that can be used to catalyze a process of self understanding and resolving common issues we all deal with. The concepts discussed in this workshop are based on simple, root level, universal experiences of the human condition and a bit of common sense. Because of this, insights that participants gain about themselves can also provide insights to understanding and resolving issues with others as well.

Requirements: comfortable clothing, a notebook and an open mind…

Please confirm participation with a short email to info@baumhausberlin.de with the subject: Inner Commons

Pay-as-you-feel €10 – €25, after the workshop (includes coffee, tea, water & snacks)

Wedding Gespräche No.17

35 YEARS BHOPAL-DISASTER: the biggest corporate crime of all time
Language: English, whisper translation to German if needed.
Registration at mariesophiekeller@gmail.com
35 years ago, a gas leak of the highly toxic pesticide component Methyl isocyanate caused over 15.000 deaths and more than half a million injuries in the Indian city of Bhopal. Even though the accident dates back to 1984, the tragedy continues. The factory building is weathering down in the heart of the million city of Bhopal. Water and soil remain contaminated. The people that live around the factory building become sick, children are born with disabilities. Meanwhile, the corporate culprit Dow Chemicals/Union Carbide is getting away with impunity. The activist Rachna Dhingra and the Bhopal survivor Nousheen Khan are in Berlin to illustrate the impacts this major corporate crime has had on the city of Bhopal and its people. In addition, they will share with us their fight against the multinational corporation. Afterwards, we want to discuss the roots of corporate impunity, as well as strategies to dismantle it.
19:00 Arrival and informal gathering

19:30 Opening – Marie-Sophie Keller, Attac Berlin
19:40 Film excerpt „Prayer for Rain“
20:00 Short presentation “35 years of impunity in Bhopal” – Rachna Dhingra (Bhopal aktivist) and Nousheen Khan (Bhopal citizen)
20:15 Podium – STRATEGIES TO DISMANTLE CORPORATE IMPUNITY

• Nousheen Khan (Bhopal citizen)
• Pascal Meiser (Member of Parliament, DIE LINKE)

Flow – a special musical meditation series
Nov 27 @ 19:00 – 22:00
Flow - a special musical meditation series @ Das Baumhaus Berlin | Berlin | Berlin | Germany
Flow :: Special I.G.O. Sessions (last Wednesday of each month)

Scott Bolden, co-founder of Das Baumhaus Berlin will share some very easy, practical and effective methods developed during the last 3 years of facilitating the “Improvisational Groove Orchestra” (I.G.O.) improv vocal jam sessions.

Program:

19:00 – Doors open, meet and greet

19:45 – Introduction, warm up & first jams (planting seeds)

20:30 – Break

20:45 – Second round of jams (human sequencer game + other fun stuff)

21:30 – Closing & feedback

+ TBD – poets, singers, instrumentalists etc. send mail to info@baumhausberlin.de to reserve a guest spot.

Here are some recording samples from past sessions…

«Was machen wir hier eigentlich?» Gespräch mit Gästen und Publikum zur Frage, was auf lokaler Ebene zu tun ist. Was macht Sinn, wo verzetteln wir uns? Was steht 2020 an?

Danach Ausklang mit Snacks & Getränken
Ohne Anmeldung, kommt vorbei & diskutiert mit!

Workshop: Business model - Sustain the project by structuring and optimizing the exchange of values

a workshop by “comit”:

To build a sustainable project, a balance has to be found between the project’s vision and its financial viability: how to make the project resilient without losing sight of its mission, and how to fulfill the vision without exhausting the stakeholders?

comit helps entrepreneurs and NGOs develop sustainable projects, by conceiving and adapting methods and tools to empower, entrepreneurs, freelancers and managers to structure the business-model of their organisations. Throughout this workshop, we will introduce a way to set up a strong business-model in line with the vision. This approach will then be applied on your projects through exchanges and examples.

6pm: Doors open
6.30pm – 8pm: Workshop in the back room of Baumhaus
8pm: Community Dinner (we’ll join Baumhaus Community Night in the front room)
