///  SALON «Wirkungsvoll konsumieren im Alltag»
Freitag, 5.

19 Uhr «Hat mein eigenes Handeln überhaupt Wirkung?!»

20 Uhr Austausch / Diskussion / Ausklang

/// WORKSHOP-NACHMITTAG «Persönliche Aktionsplanung [&] alternative Mobilität»
Samstag, 6.

15 Uhr «Und was jetzt?!»

I.G.O. Thursday Meditative Vocal Jam Sessions @ Baumhaus

We meet every Thursday to listen, respond, observe and curiously play with the sounds our voices create together. Our objective is to tune into the common feeling we are developing in the present moment.

Most of what we do is with our eyes closed. This allows everyone to be very focused on only the sound space without any other distractions. We usually are more beginners than experienced singers, and that’s absolutely fine. It is a learning process in progress, each time balancing ourselves in volume and expression to merge into the group sound space, allowing everyone to hear and be heard, naturally developing our own musical styles.

All levels and voice types are welcome! Just make sure to be on time: Scott will explain a few basic and intuitively understandable concepts to make it super easy to dive in for everyone.

Middle eastern frame drums – workshop for beginners
Oct 20 @ 12:00 – 15:00
Middle eastern frame drums - workshop for beginners
We are inviting you to an introductory workshop in the middle eastern frame drums with Borys Slowikowski – traditional percussionist, performer, teacher and psychologist. The workshops are open to students of any level! Borys represents unique, intuitive approach to frame drums, rhythmics and a role of breath and body in musical creation. It is based on the practice of Israeli percussionist/composer Zohar Fresco and inspired by experience from different musical traditions, contemporary dance and mindfulness practice.

WHAT IS THE FRAME DRUM?
The frame drum is a percussion instrument whose diameter is greater than its depth. It is one of the oldest musical instruments known to humans. In different shapes and under different names, it occurs almost all around the world. The one that I play is called in Hebrew Tof Miriam, which means ‘The drum of Miriam’ (after a female prophet who used it, as described in Old Testament).

WHAT AND HOW DO I TEACH?
I teach basic and advanced techniques for middle eastern frame drums. At the same time I am focused on developing my students’ musicality: to broaden and deepen their sense of pulse and rhythm, show ways of playing with others, to provide students with tools to improvise and compose, and to explore different musical traditions.

In my teaching I use (among others) a rhythmic vocalization technique (based on konnakol), rhythmic compositions and body-voice practices inspired by approach of Jacek Ostaszewski. To cultivate a more intuitive feel, I also introduce methods and experiences brought from different forms of body practice – movement improvisation, mindfulness practice, Body-Mind Centering, aikido.

My approach to frame drums has been greatly influenced by Israeli percussionist and composer Zohar Fresco, from whom I’ve been studying since 2010.
His technique combines different styles of playing on this instrument with a deep understanding of the human anatomy and the body’s natural abilities. It allows for effortless playing, making pure and diverse sounds and feeling ‘at home’ in variety of musical styles. It also involves greater, deeper understanding of rhythmics itself.

WHOM DO I TEACH?
My teaching may be addressed to anyone who feels like learning. Please, note: there is no such thing as ‘lack of sense of rhythm’ or ‘lack of musicality’. This kind of magic can be performed by anyone.

BRIEF PROGRAM OF THIS WORKSHOP:
➡ introduction to the basic techniques for ‘lap style’ frame drum
➡ introduction to the rhythmic vocalization technique (based on Konnakol)
➡ rhythms of different traditions
➡ introduction to composition

* WE ARE PLANNING REGULAR WORKSHOPS IN A STABLE GROUP, WHERE WE WILL:
– work on basic and advanced techniques for ‘lap style’ frame drum
– learn rhythmic composition to expand our musical horizons and understand complex musical ideas
– learn how to play (and improvise) in a bigger group
– learn how to use rhythmic vocalization technique (based on Konnakol) to expand and deepen your understanding of rhythm and pulse, improve improvisation and composition skills
– learn rhythms from different traditions
– develop body’s coordination
– learn how to create our own rhythms and compositions

Flow – a special musical meditation series
Oct 31 @ 19:00 – 22:00
Flow - a special musical meditation series @ Das Baumhaus Berlin | Berlin | Berlin | Germany
Flow :: Special I.G.O. Sessions (last Wednesday of each month)

Flow is a state of being… an experience when you allow yourself to be 100% fully engaged in the present moment in a feedback loop between clarity and satisfaction. It is an undeniable sensation where things seem to be more effortless, pleasurable, in sync, and you can easily sense a connection with something greater than yourself; this is what we will create…:

• a connected and mindful meditation where it is possible to blissfully surf the cutting edge of the present moment together…

• a game where it’s possible to feel excited and calm in the same moment, and everyone can win as much as they like…

Scott Bolden, co-founder of Das Baumhaus Berlin will share some very easy, practical and effective methods developed during the last 3 years of facilitating the “Improvisational Groove Orchestra” (I.G.O.) improv vocal jam sessions. Within 20 minutes participants learn to use the common sound space to create resonance in the form of improvisational music where it is quite common to experience some real flow moments…

It is very easy to participate, no musical talent or training is required so anyone is welcome to join. Most of the session is done with eyes closed to avoid visual distractions and keep focus on the co-created sound space. During these sessions we will also have special guest instrumental musicians, poets, writers and beat-boxers etc… If you would like to be a special guest, please send us a message.

Important – if you have never done this in the Baumhaus before and can not make it in time for the intro and warm up, then please wait until the next session to join. It is very important to understand the methodology and warm up in the group before joining in!

Program:

19:00 – Doors open, meet and greet

19:45 – Introduction, warm up & first jams (planting seeds)

20:30 – Break

20:45 – Second round of jams (human sequencer game + other fun stuff)

21:30 – Closing & feedback

+ TBD – poets, singers, instrumentalists etc. send mail to info@baumhausberlin.de to reserve a guest spot.

Here are some recording samples from past sessions…

Was gibt’s? Was wird’s?!»

20 Uhr | Austausch, Diskussion, Ausklang

WORKSHOP-NACHMITTAG «Das gute Klima im Wedding sehen»
Samstag, 3.

This will be a playful workshop for up to 16 people focused on specific systems archetypes – recurring patterns of behavior with unintended side effects we can find in many different sectors. Active Art Salon :: Emergent Berlin 2018
An Active Art Salon is a playground for adults where attendees provoke and inspire each other in thoughtful and creative ways…

This salon-style event is all about stimulating some creative answers to that little voice inside you that asks, “What can I do to make the world a better place? “ Anyone is welcome to join. Participants are encouraged to use their existing project ideas, interests, curiosities, questions and talents as a starting point. In order to inspire some clever new ideas, participants are invited to use the Baumhaus ‘Concept Catalyzers’ which are in the form of animated text installations.

The Concept Catalyzers will be set to help participants riff on the general notions of:
• creating a Potential Renaissance
• through more Immersive Realities

After the creative session is over there will be a 1 hour dinner break during which time presentation posters of the newly developed concepts can be placed on the walls of the Baumhaus. Later we will transform the Baumhaus into a walking gallery of ideas. In addition, the gallery of ideas will serve as catalysts for the evening’s Panel Discussion with Q & A featuring a diverse group of Berliners and their take on creating Immersive Realities.

Panel Discussion “immersive realities” – Emergent Berlin 2018
Nov 10 @ 18:00 – 23:00
Panel Discussion "immersive realities" - Emergent Berlin 2018
We don’t do a panel discussion every year, but the topic of “Immersive Realities” is too hard to resist the temptation of bringing together some of Berlin’s most active creative minds to engage in lively rounds of sharing thoughtful perspectives… with a nice Q & A, of course.

So far, we’re thinking about bringing a designer, a freestyle rapper, an organic farmer and another couple special guests on stage. Plus we would like to catalyze some interesting discussion topics with a walking gallery of interesting ideas from our “Active Art Salon” happening earlier in the afternoon…

If you know of someone interesting who you would like to see on our secret special guest panel then send us an email to info@baumhausberlin.de with the subject line ‘discussion panelist’.

Sustainability Thinking Workshop :: Emergent Berlin 2018
Nov 11 @ 16:00 – 19:00
Part of Emergent Berlin fest 2018 *immersive realities*
http://www.emergentberlinfest.de/

This talk and workshop by Scott Bolden, co-founder of Baumhaus Berlin, is based on a few simple flexible frameworks developed to help people gain an embodied intuitive understanding of what it means to be sustainable across several dimensions of sustainability in both their personal and professional lives.

Scott Bolden bio: http://www.baumhausberlin.de/en/community/

Sustainability Thinking can also be thought of as an evolution of Design Thinking… Design Thinking centers around the ideas of “What are we designing and who are we designing for?”, whereas Sustainability Thinking asks, “Why are we designing and what are the systemic impacts of what we design?”

This talk and workshop will explore other questions like: What does it mean to be sustainable? What does it mean to live a sustainable life while contributing to creating a sustainable society and world? What are some practical and effective ways in our daily life to achieve these objectives in the short and long term?

PEACES is an acronym describing six integrated areas of sustainability (Personal, Ecologic, Aesthetic, Cultural, Economic & Social) where we as individuals as well as organizations can have direct and positive impact on ourselves each other and the world right now.

During this half day workshop, Scott will explain this simple flexible framework and give practical embodied examples in the context of our daily lives as well as those built into in the Baumhaus. Participants of all levels of experience are invited to join in the conversation and also identify some practical steps that they can start taking on their path towards living a sustainable life.

• Please arrive early enough to have time to explore and settle in so we can get the most out of our time together
• Bring a notebook and an open mind…

Doors open at 16:00, workshop is in the Baumhaus backroom
Workshop starts are 16:30

Pay-as-you-feel €8 – €20, after the workshop (includes coffee, tea & snacks). We ask participants to consider:

• their personal budget
• the value of their experiences during the workshop in the Baumhaus
• the value of supporting the Baumhaus so that we can continue facilitating these and various other types of experiences

Immersive Welten: Tote Tiere und alte Bäume

+++ Emergent Berlin Fest 2018 * i m m e r s i v e  r e a l i t i e s * proudly present +++

Clothing Swap / Kleidertausch + Upcycling

Kleidertausch – Clothing Swap
Montag 20 – 22 Uhr @ Baumhaus

inkl. tea & food/snacks: pay-as-you-feel 4-8€
(english below)

Also komm, tausche und upcycle deine Anziehsachen!

**english**

All of us know these garments which you never wear but you can’t give away. These are getting the chance to get into new loving hands or getting with the help of a sewing machine or the silk-screen printer one of your favorite pieces again.

+ Especially we want to think about the persons which need warm clothing the most. So the rest of the clothing will be donated to the Berliner Stadtmission. They will give them to homeless persons, so they don’t freeze in winter. So if you can bring especially men- and winter clothes give them to us!

We create an alternative to exploitative fashion.
So come, swap and upcycle your clothes!

Upcycling Mosaik Workshop

Upcycling Mosaik Workshop

Keinerlei Vorkenntnisse erforderlich.
Wir freuen uns auf Euch!
