Want to learn how to make a hammock – and find out about the spiritual and philosophical significance of rope making and net making? Come join us for an inspiring textile & hammock making workshop in Baumhaus!

Artist Caroline Lindo from Textile Hunters, Amsterdam, will be in Berlin giving several workshops all week at different places. Together we’ll be creating one big hammock net. The hammock will stay in Berlin to be hung in public spaces, accessible to everyone…

On Saturday, May 6th, there will be two workshops in Baumhaus. You are invited to join either one or both.
First Workshop: 13:00-16:00
Second Workshops: 18:00-21:00

You will be learning textile techniques like: making rope with a drill, hammock making, hand crocheting, and textile upcycling! The materials we will use are all upcycled textiles. Caroline will bring a colorful basis from Amsterdam but participants are invited to bring in and collect their own recyclable textiles so that the material is as much as possible locally resourced. With every workshop the net will grow, and it will be made to be lent out to different public spaces so that it is available to the public.

Also, you’ll learn about the spiritual and philosophical significance of different textile techniques and explore how to use them as alchemical tools for healing, feeling, connecting, aligning and expressing. This happens while learning the actual techniques and creating an artwork together as a group. The Berlin workshops will be centered around concepts like connection to our inner selves, connection to others, connecting to the collective field, recognizing abundance, experiencing how (daring to) let go results in connection.

★ ☆ ✮ More about Textile Hunters ★ ☆ ✮

Caroline Lindo is is the artist behind Textile Hunters. She is a performance and installation artist using mainly textile, ritual and play as a tool for spiritual expansion. The philosophy that moves her forward is that the best way to predict the future is to create it. In her work she investigates the connection between the visible and invisible, she visualizes and creates networks and connections. She is interested in the ways in which people relate to each other, themselves, the field of ideas (inspiration, playfulness) and to the earth.

She studied fashion design and textile design at the Gerrit Rietveld Academy where she graduated with a woven network of demonstrations and protests. After her graduation she worked for Greenpeace Netherlands, she is a peace activist with green roots. Her art is full of magical touches, social/political awareness and color. She has a clear vision of how she wants the world to look and will spend her time on this planet manifesting that.

“I find a lot of poetry in the creating of rope and networks. It’s parallels to life, love, co-creation and human connection are spot on and even tantric. How two strips of textile, twisted around each other are so much stronger than just the sum of both strengths is amazing. One plus one can be three sometimes. When those ropes tie together in a network, the pressure can be distributed throughout the whole body. There is now room to relax and to play.”
